John Callen, JD, MJ, MBA, MS, CCC

CEO

 

John is the CEO, and Managing Partner of Joint & Neuro Rehab Associates, LLC, since its inception in 2019. John has been involved in rehabilitation operations for more than 40 years, assuming clinical and executive level positions within healthcare organizations, including a hospital system, acute care, subacute care, long term care, senior living, home health care, and outpatient rehabilitation. Prior to Joint & Neuro Rehab Associates, John started a national contract rehabilitation and wellness company for a group of non-profit senior living communities and served as President for 17 years providing contract therapy to premiere non-profit post-acute senior care providers across the healthcare continuum across 11 states.  John previously served as Senior VP for a Midwest rehab company for 8 years, a hospital system serving Illinois and Iowa for 5 years, and co-owner of a rehab agency in western Illinois market.

 

John holds a Master of Science Degree (M.S.) in Speech-Language Pathology from Eastern Illinois University, a Master of Business Administration Degree (M.B.A.) from St. Ambrose University, a Master of Jurisprudence (MJ) in Healthcare Law from Widener University School of Law, and a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from Taft University Law School.  John and his wife Jane currently have three children, 5 grandchildren, and live in Illinois.

Brad Miller M.A., CCC/SLP

Chief Operating Officer

 

Brad Miller has devoted over 30 years to delivering and managing rehabilitation services for seniors. As Chief Operating Officer for Joint & Neuro Rehab Associates, LLC, Brad oversees operations with a focus on strategic growth and efficiency.

 

Previously, Brad served as Vice President of Operations for 18 years with a leading national provider of rehabilitation services. In this role, he managed operations for over 200 communities and led a team of 2,000 therapists across 10 states, driving operational excellence and quality care.

 

Earlier in his career, Brad held a dual role as Regional Director of Operations and Director of Quality Assurance for a regional rehabilitation company. He successfully oversaw operations for 23 long-term care communities and implemented regulatory auditing, education, denials management, and prevention strategies for 65 communities.

 

Brad holds a Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP). He resides in Greenville, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Beth, and their three children.

Rahul Sharma, MD

Partner

Dr. Sharma brings 17 years of experience providing services to the rehab departments in hospitals and post acute settings. He started his company, Associated Physicians of Rehabilitation, six years ago and has helped develop new programs and provide medical leadership to acute rehabilitation and post acute programs. He has been able to help community SNFs develop specialized programming, improve quality measures, and help establish relationships between providers and skilled nursing facilities. He and his group also provide education and training for nurses in the post acute setting as market demand and payor expectations have evolved. He actively recruits and helps train physicians and nurse practitioners to provide exceptional, patient oriented and cost-effective care while maintaining the highest standards. Dr. Sharma is a committee member on the Post Acute Counsel for Tenet Healthcare Corporation and serves as market lead for their Chicago market. He received his medical degree from the University of Bombay and completed his residency at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital. He is board certified and a member of The American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Sajjad Murtaza, MD

Partner

 

Dr. Murtaza is a fellowship-trained specialist in sports medicine and interventional pain
and is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation.


For nearly a decade, he has been involved in promoting a pain free lifestyle and promoting the
restoration of normal function after a variety of injuries for his patients. He has a large
following in the Chicagoland area and also spent some time working in Michigan.


Dr. Murtaza is recognized for his expertise in interventional pain. He isa former director of a
large pain clinic at the university setting in downtown Chicago. He has had affiliations with
University of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago, and Rush Medical Center.


He believes a pain free existence and restoration of normal function are the keys to improving
your mental and physical health. Dr. Murtaza has worked in a variety of settings and
collaborated with a variety of internists, orthopedists, chiropractors, neurosurgeons, and
physical therapists to improve the lifestyle of his patients. An expert in working with needles
and injections, he has also incorporated regenerative medicine into his practice.


Dr. Murtaza has incorporated all of his talents into one organization, Metropolitan Institute of
Pain (MIP) in the West Loop. MIP fully integrates medical and interventional management for
pain, physical therapy, as well as working in conjunction with other specialists in order to
optimize and individualize pain management to ultimately restore normal function, so his
patients can live life to the fullest!


Dr. Murtaza is a Chicago native and loves all things Chicago, including sports, skyline, and
beauty of the city. In his spare time, he enjoys Chicago and all it has to offer with his wife,
children, and extended family.

Amish Patel, MD

Partner

 

Dr. Patel graduated medical school from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He received his medical degree in 2006. After graduating Dr. Patel obtained a transitional year internship at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, graduating from his Internship with Honors in 2007.

Dr. Patel began his specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital in Wheaton, IL in 2007. While at Marianjoy, Dr. Patel headed up several committees including the Ethics Committee, Patient Safety Committee, and GME Committee. Dr. Patel served as Chief Resident his senior year and graduated his residency in 2010.

Dr. Patel is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Medrina, a physician group specializing in physiatry that has grown to become the definitive leader in post-acute care with 1000+ providers today. Medrina has undergone a remarkable transformation under Dr. Patel's guidance…Evolving from its inception as a Physiatry group and now utilizing multiple disciplines including cardiology, pulmonology, and internal medicine…all working together to deliver value based medicine with over 2 million patient encounters a year.

Using solutions such as Chronic Care Management and Remote Patient Monitoring, Medrina is committed to revolutionizing healthcare delivery, ensuring optimal patient outcomes, and setting a new standard of excellence in the industry. Now going upstream, from it’s traditional base in post-acute care, to deliver care in hospitals as well, and downstream to manage patients/outcomes at home, Medrina will continue to evolve in the ever-changing world of healthcare.

Dr. Patel is a current/past member of numerous professional societies including American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and AMDA-PALTC.
